The ongoing India-Pakistan tensions took away another life of a brave soldier, Surendra Kumar, who was posted at Udhampur airbase. Surendra was a resident of Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu and worked in the Indian Air Force, as a medical sergeant. Surendra took his last breath when he was on duty in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur airbase, which came under a Pakistani drone attack on May 10, 2025. Surendra is survived by his wife, an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son. A huge crowd gathered at Surendra’s hometown on May 11, 2025, to pay tribute to the brave soldier while his body was brought home with a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ from Mandawa, Rajasthan to his village Mehradasi in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu.

Surendra’s 8-year-old son, Daksh, did the last rites of his father by lighting the funeral pyre. There were thousands of people who were present during the cremation. The crowd raised patriotic slogans such as, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Surendra Kumar Amar Rahe’. On the other side, Surendra’s 11-year-old daughter, Vartika, was seen saluting her father with teary eyes. Earlier, she spoke to the media, showing pride in her father, who tried to protect the nation from Pakistan. She said:
“I am feeling proud. My father was a very good man. I’m proud that he got martyred while killing the enemies and protecting the nation.”
