Bosnia, InCE Secretary General Dal Mas sees foreign minister

(ANSA) – SARAJEVO, 16 MAG – The strong commitment of the Central European Initiative (CEI) to strengthening regional dialogue and supporting European integration continued with a meeting today in Sarajevo between the Secretary General, Hon. Franco Dal Mas, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković.
During the meeting – reported the Italian Embassy in a note – the strategic priorities of the organisation were presented, the full support of the INCE to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina was reaffirmed, and the active and constructive role of the country within the organisation was underlined: “The INCE is committed to supporting European integration, promoting regional stability and strengthening concrete cooperation instruments. The active involvement of the countries of the Western Balkans is now more necessary than ever to build a more cohesive and secure Europe, as was also emphasised by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, during his official visit to our Secretariat at the end of March,’ said Dal Mas.
Among the initiatives illustrated during the meeting were the ‘Falcone-Borsellino’ programme, born out of the cooperation between the Serbian Presidency of the InCE and Italy, aimed at strengthening the fight against organised crime and corruption, and activities in the field of regional connectivity, particularly along the Western Balkans-Eastern Mediterranean corridor.
Minister Konaković expressed strong appreciation for the work of the InCE, stressing that Bosnia and Herzegovina sees the InCE as a reliable partner and a key channel for promoting stability, development and concrete cooperation in the region, reiterating that his country will continue to actively contribute to the Organisation’s activities, especially at this crucial time for the future of the Western Balkans and Europe. “The current political situation must be seized as an opportunity for the strengthening of European integration.” Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to support Ukraine, welcoming the arrival of a Ukrainian Deputy Secretary General to the Secretariat team.
One of the upcoming highlights of the InCE agenda in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be the 27 May event in Sarajevo, where InCE, MAECI, the Italian Embassy in Sarajevo, the EBRD and Bosnia and Herzegovina institutions will jointly present the results of operations supported by the InCE Fund at the Bank.
Secretary General Dal Mas took the opportunity to invite Minister Konaković on an official visit to the Secretariat in Trieste, to continue to build together a more stable and prosperous future for the entire region.
