(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 20 – Two people were slightly hurt after a regional commuter train hit a freight train in northern Italy Wednesday.
Traffic was suspended for several hours on the Brenner-Trento line, between Mezzocorona and Trento, due to the collision between several freight cars and a regional train.
The circumstances, rail company RFL said, are under investigation.
According to initial reports, during shunting operations, the freight cars located in the Roncafort area of Trento detached from the rest of the train, causing the collision with the regional train, which was stopped at the traffic light, and causing only one car to leave the tracks.
Two people suffered minor injuries, but no serious injuries were reported among passengers or train crew. (ANSA).
