(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 27 – The Coop group should apologise for the “anti-semtiic” move by some of their local cooperatives in Italy who have stopped selling Israeli goods and have started selling “Gaza Cola” to protest an alleged genocide being perpetrated in the Strip, Milan’s Jewish community said Friday.
“The statement released in these hours does not heal an action with an unmistakably anti-Semitic flavor that will remain as a stain in the history of cooperatives whose top management is morally co-responsible for spreading a sentiment of hatred against Jews”, said a note from Walter Meghnagi, president of the Jewish Community of Milan, commenting on what was explained by Coop Nazionale after some local cooperatives decided to remove some products of Israeli origin from supermarket shelves in solidarity with Palestine.
“The only thing that Coop managers have to do is apologize”, said Meghnagi. (ANSA).
