(ANSA) – ROME, FEB 13 – The State Attorney’s Office in Florence has ordered an autopsy on the bodies of two nursing home guests who died after being hospitalized at the local Santa Maria Nuova Hospital due to a serious gastrointestinal disease, Florence daily La Nazione reported on Thursday.
Two other guests are also in critical condition at Florence’s Careggi Hospital, according to newspaper.
All four seniors fell ill after eating a meal at the nursing home, according to the report.
The incident dates back to last Monday, when the elderly guests fell ill after eating their meal.
NAS Carabinieri health investigators, and the local ASL health authority are looking into the case.
The meals were reportedly cooked at another nursing home in the area of Florence which has been temporarily closed following the incident. (ANSA).
