From Camerino to the North Cape by bike, via Copenhagen

(ANSA) – ROMA, 16 MAG – Witnessing an initiative that combines sport and deep ties with the region, Tonino Pieroni, the cyclist from Camerino who was the protagonist of a 4,000 km cycling tour with the final destination being the North Cape, arrived in Copenhagen this morning. Welcomed at the Italian embassy, the sportsman from the Marche resumed his journey on his way to his destination. Leaving on 5 May from Camerino, after crossing Austria and Germany and covering a good 2,000 km, he reached the Danish capital accompanied by Marco Moscatelli, organiser of the trip, and Lorenzo Stura, logistics manager.
Upon arrival at the Italian residence, he was welcomed by the ambassador, staff representatives and the local Italian community, as well as the mayor of Camerino, Roberto Lucarelli, who flew in from the Marche region for the occasion.
Everyone emphasised the significant gesture of uniting an Italian region with the northernmost part of Norway by cycling, a gesture that everything owes to the strength and passion with which Tonino Pieroni and his team came together to realise it. In the institutional exchange that the event allowed, the considerable potential of Camerino and, more generally, of the Marche region towards Denmark came to light, with promising commercial, cultural, tourist and academic projects that could certainly contribute to strengthening bilateral ties and a broader knowledge of the history and culture of Italy in the Danish kingdom.
