(ANSA) – LISBONA, 19 MAR – The presentation of the book ‘Italian Heritage in Portugal. A journey through the 15th-20th centuries’. The book, edited by Nunziatella Alessandrini, Mariagrazia Russo and Gaetano Sabatini, with an introduction by Ambassador Claudio Miscia, is a collection of essays that explore various aspects of the dialogue between the cultures of Italy and Portugal, tracing historical, diplomatic and artistic trajectories common to the two countries.
The book presentation was the concluding session of the 13th cycle of Conferences on Luso-Italian Relations, the main forum for academic debate on artistic and commercial exchanges between Italy and Portugal. The initiative, entitled ‘Ephemerides of Luso-Italian Relations’, was part of a wide-ranging programme to celebrate the centenary of the Pombeiro Palace as the seat of the Italian Embassy in Lisbon. It was in fact in 1925 that this important Lisbon building was purchased by the Italian State and became the centre of the Italian diplomatic mission in Portugal.
