(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 8 – Premier Giorgia Meloni wrote to Pope Leo XIV after his election Thursday saying with filial affection that there was a desperate need for peace in the world.
“Holy Father, I offer you my personal congratulations and those of the Italian Government for your election to the Throne of Peter”, began the letter that Meloni sent to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, signing it “with filial affection”.
In the letter Meloni stated that “the world is in desperate need” of peace, which “you, from the Loggia della Benedizioni, have invoked several times, recalling the incessant and tireless action carried out by the late Pope Francis”. (ANSA).
