The Hera Pheri franchise has always remained relevant, even though it was released 25 years ago. Both films have made huge contributions to the memes and pop culture of India. However, the franchise has become the talk of the town again, given the announcement of a third instalment, Hera Pheri 3, and the controversy surrounding its star cast, especially Paresh Rawal.
As of now, Paresh Rawal will not be a part of Hera Pheri 3 and will not be back to reprise his role of ‘Baburao’. This decision of the star has not only left the fans disappointed but has also ensued a legal battle with co-star and movie producer, Akshay Kumar. Paresh Rawal said that Phir Hera Pheri had ‘lost its innocence’
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Paresh Rawal talked at length about the Hera Pheri franchise and his iconic character of ‘Baburao’. The actor stated his opinion that the second film, Phir Hera Pheri, wasn’t that good. Everyone was confident about the film, given the success of the first movie. However, the innocence and simplicity of the story were lost, as per Paresh. The actor further revealed that he warned director of Phir Hera Pheri, Neeraj Vohra, that he was overstuffing the film, and adviced him to keep it simple, otherwise it would get messy.
