After 25 die in Birch nightclub fire, CM Pramod Sawant faces public outrage, orders inquiry, and state-wide nightclub safety audit
According to the preliminary government probe, the blaze began around 11:45 pm when some electric fireworks went off during a live performance. At first, there were rumours that a cylinder blast caused the accident, but later it was revealed that it was due to internal fireworks. Multiple factors, including narrow exits, wooden furniture, and inadequate fire safety compliance, prevented victims from escaping the nightclub. Talking about the staff, numerous victims were trapped inside the ground floor and basement kitchen, which led to suffocation under thick smoke.
