Rekha Bhardwaj recalls her musical journey and how a comment from Jagjit Singh made her upset

In a recent interview with News18, Rekha Bhardwaj recalled her musical journey and how a harsh comment from the late Ghazal singer, Jagjit Singh broke her heart. The veteran singer mentioned that Jagjit told her that there was an absence of a spark in her voice, which made her upset. Rekha also shared that she felt very small at that moment. Recalling the sad moment, Rekha said:

“I wasn’t upset in the usual sense. I was upset, very positively. It wasn’t about ego. It was more that, I felt so small in that moment — I had been troubling him for almost two years, and he was always encouraging, always kind. But maybe I hadn’t realised that I wasn’t doing enough riyaaz.”
