The International Pediatric Science Conference has officially commenced today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in the field of pediatric and neonatal care. Running from May 13th to 15th, 2025, the event is hosted by the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the General Directorate for Health Services, Ministry of Defense, in partnership with the Continuing Professional Development Department at Prince Sultan Military Medical City and the Saudi Society of Pediatric Neurology.

This high-profile conference has attracted leading pediatricians, researchers, and educators from across the region, creating a dynamic space for exploring innovations and advancements in pediatric healthcare. Attendees will engage in discussions on the latest trends and breakthroughs within the field, fostering a collaborative environment for sharing expertise, best practices, and new ideas.

Among the primary topics of focus are various pediatric subspecialties such as nutrition, gastroenterology, immunology, infectious diseases, neurology, and neonatal care. Experts will delve into the most pressing issues facing pediatric care today, offering insights on how to overcome challenges and improve treatment outcomes for children and infants.

In his opening remarks the conference chairman, Dr. Khalid Hundallah Consultant Pediatric Neurology, Chairman of Paediatric Department, Prince Sultan Military Medical City, Vice President, Saudi Pediatric Neurology Society, KSA. Said: “We are honored to hold the International Pediatric Science conference under the patronage of Prince Sultan Military Medical City, one of the leading healthcare institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This pioneering regional event reflects our continued shared commitment to providing the best integrated healthcare for children by enhancing effective cooperation between various medical and nursing specialties and supporting bodies, ensuring that the child’s health, psychological, and social needs are met in accordance with the highest international medical standards”.

“This prominent scientific event represents an integrated platform for exchanging experiences between a group of consultants, experts, and researchers specialized in pediatric medicine, to continue the pursuit of ensuring a better future for the next generation, and supporting scientific research, training, and continuous professional development for physicians, recognizing the importance of integration in providing safe, effective healthcare that relies on the latest scientific developments”. Added Dr. Khalid Hundallah.

Leading pediatric experts will come together to discuss a range of critical topics at the International Pediatric Science Conference, including the latest advancements in pediatric care. Among the key discussions will be Advances in Diagnosing and Treating Kawasaki Disease, Neurofibromatosis Type 1 and Plexiform Neurofibromas: Current Landscape in Saudi Arabia, Emerging Therapies and Vaccines for RSV: A New Era in Pediatric Care, and The Impact of Pneumococcal Vaccination on Pediatric Health: Successes and Future Directions. Additionally, the conference will cover Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome: From Diagnosis to Management, New Updates in Outpatient Asthma Management, and Recurrent Pulmonary Infections: Appropriate Diagnostic Considerations, alongside many other pressing topics in pediatric medicine.

The conference will be chaired by Dr. Khalid Hundallah, Consultant Pediatric Neurologist and Chairman of the Pediatric Department at Prince Sultan Military Medical City. He is also the Vice President of the Saudi Pediatric Neurology Society. The organizing committee will be led by Dr. Khaled Baqais, Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine Consultant and Head of the Pulmonary Medicine Division at Prince Sultan Military Medical City.

The committee also includes a distinguished group of experts such as Dr. Fahad Al-Abbas, Consultant in Pediatric Hematology & Oncology, Dr. Abdulrahman Asiri, Head of the Pediatric Rheumatology Division, Dr. Faisal Al-Haffaf, Consultant in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Dr. Faten Al-Mijmaj, Pediatric Endocrinology Consultant, and Dr. Majed Aloufi, Pediatric Nephrology Consultant, all from Prince Sultan Military Medical City. Additionally, Ms. Reema Al-Zahrani, Health Management Specialist at Prince Sultan Military Medical City, is also part of the organizing team.

The scientific committee consists of notable figures such as Prof. Fahad Bashiri, Professor and Consultant Pediatric Neurologist at King Saud University, and Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Odayani, Pediatric Infectious Disease Consultant and Director of the Infection Control Center of Excellence at Prince Sultan Military Medical City. Other members include Dr. Hassan Al-Ahmari, Consultant General Pediatric Medicine, Dr. Malak Al-Samnan, Consultant Neonatologist, and Dr. May Al-Barrak, Consultant in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, among others. This team will work together to ensure the event highlights the latest advancements in pediatric science and medicine.
