
Hotelverse and Ilunion Hotels steal the spotlight at Seville’s Tourism Innovation Summit, celebrated for their groundbreaking advances in customer experience and AI.
The Tourism Innovation Summit 2024 proudly presented the Tourism Innovation Awards 2024, honoring groundbreaking initiatives that embrace innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable practices in the tourism industry. This year’s awards showcased forward-thinking solutions focused on enhancing user experiences and implementing advanced technologies that reshape the travel landscape. From over 140 nominations, six innovative projects by diverse companies and organizations emerged as the distinguished winners of this prestigious fifth edition.
Among the winners, Hotelverse stood out, receiving the Accenture Award for Excellence in Customer Experience. Their online OTA solution minimizes reliance on third-party agencies, enabling hotels to retain more revenue while providing personalized experiences and boosting customer satisfaction. Notable runners-up included Aloja Experience for its real-time data analytics and Imvizar’s multimedia and augmented reality platform, which fosters immersive, interactive narratives.
Ilunion Hotels took home the Teléfonica Award for Best Innovation in AI and Data Analytics, recognized for its Data-Driven Organizational Culture project, which champions AI adoption and strategic planning to create economic and social benefits for stakeholders. Finalists in this category included NTT Data’s AI and machine learning solutions tailored for tourism, along with Smartseer’s customized recommendation system for travelers.
Segittur also made its mark, winning the Vueling Award for Excellence in Digital Innovation. Celebrated for its efforts in revolutionizing Spanish tourism through digital transformation, Segittur’s initiatives, including Smart Tourist Destinations and the Tourism Intelligence System, have significantly boosted industry collaboration and competitiveness. The finalists were Datlas, with its data-sharing portal for Latin American tourism, and BOB’s Bluetooth-enabled luggage tracking system for seamless baggage management.
The Melilla Emerging Business Model Award went to Singular Places, an organization dedicated to sustainable travel by connecting technology with local ambassadors, fostering support for SMEs, and reinvesting in communities. NaviSavi, promoting local economic growth through tourism, and Tripresale, offering non-refundable hotel bookings that can be resold, were recognized as runners-up.
The Cadena Ser Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion honored Invisible Cities, a social enterprise founded in 2016. This organization empowers individuals who have experienced homelessness by training them as city guides, helping them share personal narratives while earning a stable income and building community ties. Other finalists included Park4dis with its accessible mobility solutions and Tifloactiva’s smart accessible urban models designed to enhance visitor experiences.
Lastly, SwiftON was awarded the Innovasur Award for Sustainable Leadership for its initiative encouraging hotel guests to conserve water by taking shorter showers. Through IoT and gamification, SwiftON provides real-time feedback and rewards, promoting responsible usage among guests. ANCYCO, which supports local development and cultural projects, and B&B Hotels with its eco-friendly construction approach, were the commendable finalists in this category.
