The Data Appeal Company, part of Almawave Group, has entered a strategic partnership with Visa, a global digital payments leader.
This collaboration will enable The Data Appeal Company, whose mission is to support destinations with data-driven solutions for sustainable and competitive growth, to offer deeper insights into tourist behavior, specifically focusing on visitor spending at top global destinations.
Through the integration of a newly developed Spending Module within the Data Appeal’s industry-leading D/AI Destinations platform, Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) can now access aggregated, anonymized visitor spending data updated on a monthly basis.
This module is designed to help DMOs enhance tourism management strategies by providing a complete view of where visitors allocate their spending across major categories, including hospitality, food and dining, transportation, retail, entertainment, and attractions.
The Spending Module leverages two years of historical spending data, allowing destinations to compare trends with other locations and different times of the year.
By analyzing visitor preferences across categories, countries of origin, and Visa card types, destinations can now more effectively tailor their offerings to meet the specific needs of tourists, optimizing both marketing campaigns and resource allocation.
Valeria Sandei, CEO of Almawave, remarked on the significance of this partnership: “This agreement enhances our ability to help destinations understand and respond to visitor needs, allowing us to support DMOs in crafting tourism promotion strategies that are data-driven and impactful.”
Mirko Lalli, CEO and founder of The Data Appeal Company, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration: “Our partnership with Visa is a key milestone in our mission to provide DMOs with innovative, data-driven tools for sustainable and competitive growth.
With this advanced Spending Module, destinations gain a powerful tool to analyze and maximize the economic impact of tourism.”
Stefano M. Stoppani, Visa Italy’s Country Manager, noted that “the collaboration with The Data Appeal Company will help guide the decision-making process of public and private tourism industry players with the support of aggregated visitor spending data”.
Mark Palmer, Vice President of Visa Europe Government Solutions, added that this partnership will enable a division that specializes in providing solutions for governments, to support institutions in new areas of data analysis such as quantifying the impact of large-scale events, optimizing public transportation services, and analyzing both tourist locations and nontourist urban areas.
The Spending Module brings unprecedented value to the D/AI Destinations platform, enabling destination stakeholders to make informed, strategic decisions, enhance visitor experiences, and optimize investments.
As global tourism continues to recover and expand, this partnership reinforces The Data Appeal Company and Visa’s commitment to fostering sustainable tourism and supporting the economies of the destinations they serve.
