Wizz Air transitions to a 100% cashless payment system from April 2025, enabling seamless in-flight purchases with contactless cards and digital wallets.
Wizz Air Introduces Fully Cashless Onboard Payment System for a Seamless Travel Experience
Wizz Air, recognized as EMEA’s most environmentally sustainable airline, is revolutionizing its onboard services by transitioning to an entirely cashless payment system. Effective April 1, 2025, all in-flight transactions will be processed exclusively through digital payment methods, ensuring a faster, safer, and more convenient experience for passengers.
Expanded Digital Payment Options for Maximum Convenience
Passengers will now be able to make purchases using a range of cashless payment methods, including contactless card payments and mobile wallets such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay, and Google Pay. In addition, Wizz Air has expanded its accepted payment options to include Revolut cards, alongside the traditional VISA and Mastercard, both credit and debit.
This strategic move is aimed at enhancing convenience and efficiency, eliminating the need for travelers to carry physical cash or worry about currency exchanges before their flights.
Exclusive Revolut Partnership Benefits for Passengers
As part of Wizz Air’s collaboration with Revolut, new Revolut users can earn up to £25 cashback upon signing up and making their first transaction of at least £5. Additionally, Revolut Pay customers can collect RevPoints, the fintech’s exclusive loyalty points, which can be redeemed for future purchases, including Wizz Air flight bookings.
To celebrate the transition to cashless payments, until April 4, 2025, passengers who book their flights with Revolut Pay will earn 10x more RevPoints on their transactions (T&Cs apply). This promotion is designed to reward frequent travelers and encourage seamless digital transactions.
A Faster, Safer, and More Efficient Shopping Experience
The shift to a completely cashless payment system is set to revolutionize onboard shopping, reducing service times and streamlining transactions for both passengers and crew. Without the need for cash handling, the system enhances onboard hygiene and minimizes the hassle of dealing with currency conversion or exact change.
Additionally, passengers can pre-purchase vouchers via the Wizz Air mobile app, allowing for a smoother payment process during the flight. These vouchers offer a secure and seamless method of payment, ensuring a stress-free experience for travelers.
Guidelines for Cashless Transactions
To ensure a smooth transition to cashless payments, Wizz Air has outlined the following guidelines:
- The maximum amount allowed for onboard purchases per customer is €150.
- For transactions exceeding €50, passengers must present their boarding pass to complete the purchase.
Wizz Air’s Commitment to Innovation and Passenger Satisfaction
By embracing a fully digital payment model, Wizz Air reaffirms its dedication to providing an exceptional and modernized travel experience. The airline remains committed to leveraging technological advancements to enhance customer satisfaction, ensuring that every aspect of the journey is as smooth and efficient as possible.
As Wizz Air continues to expand its digital services, passengers can look forward to further enhancements that prioritize efficiency, security, and convenience in every aspect of their travel experience.
