(ANSA) – ROME, FEB 27 – Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi met his Libyan counterpart Imad Trabelsi in Rome on Thursday to take stock of the migration situation, the interior ministry said.
The talks focused on exchanging ideas about shared strategies to combat illegal migration, it said.
The two ministers “agreed that an effective solution to block the irregular flow of migrants is the implementation of assisted voluntary repatriations from Libya to the countries of origin, to be carried out in collaboration with the main international partners, including the IOM and UNHCR,” the ministry said.
