(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 6 – The Italian Union of Jewish Communities (UCEI) on Friday expressed concern about Saturday’s march in Rome organized by centre-left opposition parties to protest against the plight of Palestinian civilians in Gaza amid Israel’s war against Hamas.
“We are concerned about the choice to defend only one people, the Palestinian people, and not the Israeli people too, with one flag and not two,” said UCEI President Noemi Di Segni in an article about the march.
“Although we understand the spirit that drives the organizers, we express strong concern and feel it is our duty to point out the shortcomings and inconsistencies. “Nonetheless, we remain convinced that the ‘two peoples and two states’ option is still the goal we are morally obliged to achieve.
“Hence the appeal to always show both flags, never just one.” Around 50,000 people are expected to take part in the march.
