VNR Alert: HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB® 2025 Concludes Historic Dual-Weekend Edition: 10,000 Runners, 1.3 Billion Baht Impact, and a Year of Redemptions

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – Sunday, December 7, 2025 – The 6th edition of HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB® has successfully concluded, cementing its status as the Asia-Pacific Major. Spanning two weekends and two iconic hubs, the event welcomed a record-breaking 9,656 runners from 89 countries, generating an estimated 1.3 billion Baht for the local economy.

A Strategic Return to Roots To honor the event’s origins and manage the surge in participation, the 2025 edition operated across two distinct hubs:

● Week 1 (Nov 29-30): The event returned to Doi Inthanon National Park (The Roof of Thailand) for the high-altitude 50K and 20K challenges.

● Week 2 (Dec 4-7): The festival expanded to Chiang Mai PAO Park in the city center for the ultra-distances (160K, 100K) and the vibrant Day & Night 20K/50K races.

Official Race Results: Triumphs & Turnarounds
CHIANG DAO 160 (100M) – The Climb to the Top The inaugural 168km race on the brutal new Chiang Dao course saw a stacked field of former champions, including Jiaju Zhao (CHN), Sange Sherpa (NPL), and Gediminas Grinius (LTU). But the story of the weekend belonged to Aleksei Beresnev (AIN). After finishing 11th in the previous edition, Beresnev executed a masterful race to climb the ranks and claim the championship title.

● Women’s Champion: The “Queen of Chiang Mai,” Antonina Iushina (AIN), defended her crown with a dominant performance, securing back-to-back victories in the event’s toughest category.

ELEPHANT 100 (100K) – The Clash of Titans In a highly anticipated battle, Miguel Arsenio (POR) secured a historic “Double,” winning the 100K title just days after claiming the Inthanon 50 crown. He held off strong challenges from Kao Zhou (CHN) and Dmitry Mityaev (AIN).

● Women’s Champion: Vietnam’s Hau Ha Thi reclaimed her title in a stunning 10:43:28 finish, defeating defending champion Ekaterina Mityaeva.

HMONG 50 (50K) – The Speedsters The Hmong 50 (Day) delivered a thrilling finish, with Guangfu Meng (CHN) finally defeating his long-time rival Rui Ueda (JPN) to take top honors – following with world-famous Hayden Hawks (USA) in 3rd position.

● Women’s Champion: Switzerland’s Maude Mathys proved untouchable, adding the Hmong 50 title to her Week 1 victory at the Inthanon 50. Her “Double Gold” performance across two weekends cements her status as one of the world’s most versatile trail runners.

Beyond the Finish Line: A World-Class Stage
“This event is more than a competition; it is a global classroom,” said the Race Director. “From the medical teams managing high-altitude safety to the students driving our marketing, HOKA Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB® has become a premier training ground for world-class event management in Southeast Asia.”
