Today is the second anniversary of the passing of a dear and beloved friend and companion, my Tigger Kitty. This is in memory of him. He will always be in my heart and thoughts.

Tigger was born on February 7, 2003, and came to me in July of that year after I had gone through a very trying and difficult time in my life. Tigger rescued me from my depression. I immediately fell in love with him, and he became my kissy kitty and official door greeter. We had two female cats, and he immediately made it known that he was the alpha male.

I got Tigger used to a harness and leash, and he traveled everywhere with us. It was so comical to see him struggling with that harness. He fought it every step of the way. We called it his “Intimidator.”

On one of our trips, Tigger alerted us to an imminent danger by meowing plaintively. I asked him what was wrong, but I couldn’t detect anything. Then I saw a tiny wisp of smoke coming from under the cowl, and I smelled what seemed like electrical wires burning. We stopped, got the problem fixed, and made it home.

Not long after that, Tigger became very ill. He lost weight until he was skin and bones. I immediately took him to a vet, who diagnosed him with diabetes. After he responded to treatment, I was able to bring him home, where he was put on a strict diet.

This was in 2008, and Tigger remained with us until November 11, 2012, when he came up to me, mewed, put his paw up to me, and mewed again. I could tell something was wrong, and I immediately called the vet. But before I could get him into his carrier and to the vet, he passed away.

It nearly broke my heart. My best friend and beloved companion was gone. I will always hold Tigger close to my heart and remember him with fond memories of our time together.
