Nebraska has opened training camp, and the Huskers’ offensive coordinator is pleased with the early results. Dana Holgorsen is entering his second full season in charge of the offense.
Last season, Nebraska ranked 80th in total offense, averaging 370.5 yards per game and 58th in scoring offense at 28.7 points per game. Holgorsen is working with a new projected starting quarterback this season after last year’s opening-day starter, Dylan Raiola, transferred to the Oregon Ducks.
Looking to replace Raiola is UNLV transfer Anthony Colandrea. Colandrea comes to Nebraska following a breakout junior year with the Rebels in which he won the Moutain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year
The St. Petersburg, Florida, native finished the 2025 season throwing for 3,459 yards, 23 touchdowns, and nine interceptions with a 65.9 completion percentage. The Husker quarterback room also includes sophomore and bowl game starter T.J. Lateef and former Virginia quarterback Daniel Kaelin.
Holgorsen spoke with Kyle Crooks of the Husker Radio Network following day two of fall camp. The OC discussed what he’s seen from the unit in camp and what progress he hopes to make before the season opener next month.
“We’re old. We’re old and we’re experienced. It makes it a little easier. You know, plus you know, going into year three, I’m way more comfortable with where we’re at right now with what the offense is and what I want to get accomplished. And we have experienced guys. I mean all three quarterbacks out there have game experience and at the Power Four level. And so it makes a lot of sense to them too, which makes it easier to get the information transferred. And uh, you know, so far so good, but it’s day two. Tomorrow’s pads, you know, and so we got a long ways to go.”
Nebraska opens the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5, when the Ohio Bobcats visit Memorial Stadium. Kickoff time is set for 11 a.m. CT and can be seen on FS1.
