Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma features some of the best casting of the year. Gillian Anderson steps in as Billy, the star of the original Camp Miasma film who now lives completely off the grid. In an effort to take a leap forward with the project, Kris decides to pay Billy a visit where she lives — at the isolated summer camp where the Camp Miasma films were made. During the trip, the two strike up an intoxicating emotional and sexual connection, one Schoenbrun expertly weaves into a narrative that playfully and lovingly subverts the concept of the slasher movie remake.
