(ANSA) – ATENE, 14 GIU – The Italian Ambassador to Athens, Paolo Cuculi, visited the Headquarters of the European Union naval operation Aspides, based in the city of Larissa, aimed at safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf and the Northern Arabian Sea.
In the meeting with the Commander of the operation, Admiral Vassileios Gryparis, the main developments of the operation, to which Italy provides the Operational and Tactical Command on board and provides a Navy ship, were reviewed.
The Ambassador – reads a communiqué – extended his greetings and heartfelt thanks to the Italian personnel and officers present in Larissa for their important service, emphasising how, with its participation in Aspides, Italy confirms its priority commitment to maritime security, peace and freedom of navigation, fundamental principles for global stability and the protection of common strategic interests.
