It’s been a strange week in the Big Brother house.
After Mickey’s eviction, the stage seemed set for a double eviction.
Instead, we got The White Locust, a twist that will go down as one of the biggest flops in Big Brother history.

We’ve already explained how it makes the series feel like The Challenge instead of Big Brother.
When a show that’s long been rooted in strategy and giving the contestants opportunities to save themselves from eviction changes things up and loses an icon like Rachel Reilly, there are big questions.

The issue with the show in the future now is that its most familiar face is gone, and with The Mastermind teasing a “month of mayhem,” it seems we’re getting more rapid-fire eliminations instead of double evictions.
Big Brother Is Getting Intense
While these twists raise the stakes, they take the show away from what it was.
In the aftermath of Rachel’s elimination, Lauren won her second Head of Household of the season.
And she wasted no time in making some moves.

Lauren nominated Ashley, Morgan, and Will for eviction, feeling she had a strong chance of getting one of them out.
Given that Morgan is very close to Vince, Lauren likely wanted to split them up so that she had Vince to herself as they navigate the latter third of the game.
Morgan gave Lauren several reasons not to trust her during the timed competition, so if Morgan were to get evicted, it would only strengthen Lauren’s game.
But Morgan went ahead and won her second straight Power of Veto of the summer, throwing a great big wrench in Lauren’s plans to evict her.

Keanu was named the replacement nominee in one of the stupidest moves of the season. He wasn’t coming for Lauren. At all.
This Season is a Huge Mess
So, she’s made a big enemy out of him and thrown one of Kelley’s most prominent allies on the block.
The amount of bizarre moves in the house this season have highlighted that new school Big Brother just isn’t cutthroat enough.
Keanu was kicking himself after Lauren backdoored him because Rachel had tried to get him to nominate Lauren last week, but he wouldn’t even consider it since they were working together.

What a difference a week makes. But a Big Brother backdoor this season isn’t like the earlier years.
Keanu has a chance to remove himself from the block thanks to the BB Blockbuster. Given his competition history this season, he stands a good chance of it, too.
Ashley has won a Power of Veto, and Will has yet to win a competition. Unless it’s a crapshoot competition, he’ll likely save himself.
During Thursday’s live eviction episode, Rachel returned to speak with Julie about her elimination.

When it came to the BB Blockbuster, Keanu won the competition, leaving Will and Ashley on the block.
By a vote of 3-2, Will was evicted and became the second member of the jury.
