The Punjabi singer walked like a king on the blue carpet at the high-end fashion event that took place in New York. He paid homage to his cultural roots in Prabal Gurung attire. Diljit merged his Punjabi cultural heritage with the theme of Black Dandyism at the MET Gala 2025 and paid tribute to the Maharaja of Patiala. This is the life the singer dreamt of. Diljit’s team had already revealed earlier that the singer wanted to personally wear the jewellery of the Maharaja of Patiala, but he was not allowed to do so. The singer, who comes from a middle-class family, now has a global fan base and is living a life he dreamed of. Once, in an interview with the Filmy Companion, Diljit was asked why people loved him, and he revealed that since his childhood, he had a dream that the world would know him and he would know no one. In his words:
“Main sochta tha jab chota tha bada silly si cheez thi joh mei sochta tha ki aisa din aaye ki mein kisi ko na jaanta hu aur mere ko sab jaante hai. Yeh aisa silly sa mere dimag mei chalti rehti thi baat. Vanity enjoy karta hu. Yeh kabhi life mei honi nahi thi. Kaam vanitiyo mei baithne vale bande thodi hai. Toh ek ek cheez mei enjoy karta hoon. Vanity, light, spot milta hai aapko hai na? Yeh sab cheezein kabhi life mei? Mein gaon ka bandha kaha dekhni thi yeh sab cheezein? “
