Weddings are the happiest occasions of a bride and groom’s life. It’s not only the union of two individuals but rather of two families. Dowry, in simple words, is a gift of the bride’s family to the groom, and while it has been there in culture for years, in modern times, there are mostly no such things that can fixate a marital bond. However, there are several instances when the bride’s family, according to their own wish, gives a dowry to the groom. Recently, an incident happened where a groom’s demands didn’t end even after getting a hefty dowry from the bride’s family, and it ended up causing a rift and finally breaking the wedding.
A Gurugram groom gets beaten up as he demands Rs. 51 lakh and a luxury car from the bride’s family
The incident happened in Bhangrola village of Gurugram. As per reports, a groom named Mohit arrived with his baarat to the bride, Chanchal’s home. During the ritual, neem jhadai, the groom’s uncle reportedly pushed the women and demanded crores, and said the baarat would move back if the bride’s family didn’t fulfil the same. The bride thought it to be a joke, but it turned out that the groom’s side was actually demanding the same. Reportedly, the groom’s family asked for Rs. 51 lakh cash and a luxury car.
