After months of attempting to convince my boyfriend that we should adopt a cat, he finally came with me to the Humane Society to go cat shopping. We had our eyes on three specific cats, but after narrowing it down to two brothers, we decided on Jeremiah, as we both immediately fell in love with him. I didn’t want to leave his brother behind, but I knew it wouldn’t be long before another family adopted him.
We were debating whether or not to sign the paper work while we were there, or just wait till the next day. My boyfriend said that Jeremiah was perfect, and we should adopt him before somebody else does. So I signed the paperwork, and arranged to pick him up later after I got off work.
Later that night when I went to pick up Jeremiah, I was standing in the gift shop picking out some toys, and I saw a lady holding Jeremiah’s brother’s paperwork, and asked her if she was taking him home. She said, “Well my first choice was Jeremiah, but apparently somebody else already adopted him.”
When we brought him home, we realized that he had a brown patch of fur on his right foot, matching my boyfriends’ freckle on his right foot. It was fate. All roads led us to Jeremiah, as he was destined to be a part of our family.
