Italian glamour in the art of jewellery on show in Kenya

(ANSA) – NAIROBI, 17 MAG – Yesterday in Nairobi, the Italian Ambassador to Kenya, Roberto Natali, inaugurated the exhibition ‘Diva! Il glamour italiano nel gioiello moda’, an exhibition of 200 exclusive pieces created by great stylists, designers and master jewellers and costume jewellers from the 1950s to the present day.
Promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Maeci) together with the Milan Polytechnic and curated by Alba Cappellieri, Professor of Jewellery Design at the Polytechnic and Director of the Vicenza Jewellery Museum, with the assistance of Beatrice Rossato, Livia Tenuta and Susanna Testa, the exhibition tells the story of Italian fashion jewellery, with creations arising from the encounter between precious materials and the talent of great stylists (such as Angela Caputi, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Elio Fiorucci, Missoni, Iosselliani, Sharra Pagano and many other leading figures on the Italian creative scene) but also jewellers and independent designers, emphasising that quality does not only derive from the preciousness of materials, but also from the intangible value of craftsmanship and innovation.
The inauguration was attended by Kenyan designers, creatives and influencers, as well as art critics and enthusiasts, confirming the great appeal of Made in Italy in Nairobi. “This exhibition not only recounts Italian excellence and creativity, but also the evolution of our fashion and customs over the past seventy years,” said Natali, introducing the exhibition, which will remain open to the public until Monday 19 May.
