King Charles says my warnings on climate sadly confirmed

(ANSA) – ROME, APR 9 – King Charles said in his historic address to the Italian parliament Wednesday this his warnings over the climate emergency of 16 years ago had been sadly confirmed and paid tribute to Roman poet Virgil who in his Georgics had proved to be the father of sustainable farming.
“The warnings I launched 16 years ago on the urgency of the climate crisis are sadly confirmed by events,” Charles said.
“The extreme storms that are recorded every year, many species are at risk of extinction, the stakes are very high.
“The Italian heritage is blessed with extraordinary riches and the highest number of species in Europe”. The sovereign referred to Virgil who, he recalls, “perfectly understood the importance of the environment.
“He was the father of sustainable agriculture if we can say so, in the Georgics he spoke of the natural cycles of the earth, even of the value of composting”, Charles stated. (ANSA).
