This past spring, composer Lorne Balfe recorded his score The Naked Gun at the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros. The fourth film in the comedy series, this sequel directed by Akiva Schaffer stars Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin, Jr., the son of Leslie Neilsen’s character from the original trilogy. We’re thrilled to be able to share exclusive photos from the scoring sessions with our readers!

The view from the booth
Balfe attended the sessions remotely from his studio in the UK, and so inside the booth, co-score producer and music editor Peter Myles was making sure everything was running smoothly. Lead orchestrator Yaron Eignstein and additional music composer Peter Adams were also there to give feedback, joined by Pro Tools recordist Larry Mah and stage recordist Tom Hardisty. Also present were orchestra contractor Peter Rotter, supervising copyist Booker White, and Lorne Balfe’s agent, Darrell Alexander from Cool Music Ltd.

Balfe’s score brings back the return of Ira Newborn’s classic “Police Squad” theme, and the album features a new arrangement by Gordon Goodwin.
