The NFL is shifting into offseason mode after the Seattle Seahawks‘ 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60.
First on the offseason calendar will be the 2026 NFL Combine, where many of the league’s top prospects will showcase their skills for the league’s 32 teams.
The NFL has invited 319 prospects to the 2026 combine, down from the 329 total invited last season. Of course, not all invitees will actually participate in on-field drills. Some are dealing with injuries while others – typically high-end prospects who have little to gain from working out – will focus more on the interview portion of the event.
Fernando Mendoza is the top name not expected to participate in drills at the combine. The Heisman Trophy winner and projected No. 1 overall pick is instead planning to throw at the Indiana Pro Day, where he will be guaranteed to work with fellow draft-eligible receiving weapons like Elijah Sarratt, Omar Cooper Jr. and tight end Riley Nowakowski.
Speaking of Indiana, one of the more notable NFL Combine snubs was Kaelon Black. The 24-year-old running back totaled 1,040 yards and 10 touchdowns on 186 carries during the Hoosiers’ national championship run but was not among the 21 running backs invited to Indianapolis.
Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was also not invited to the NFL Combine. However, his exclusion is tied to his quest to play another college season. The 23-year-old is suing the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility while asking for his 2022 season at Ferris State – during which he didn’t play due to persistent respiratory issues – to be counted as a redshirt campaign.
Here’s a full look at who the NFL invited to the 2026 combine, broken down by position.
