(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 26 – Lucio Malan, the whip of Premier Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party in the Senate, said Monday that it would not be possible for Italy to host talks on ending the war in Gaza because it would be obliged to execute an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he came here.
‘If we wanted to have a negotiation in Italy between Israel and a counterpart, and we we would have to see who that is, it would not be possible because Netanyahu would be arrested,” Malan told Sky television.
“The International Criminal Court has an arrest warrant and the whole of the opposition is asking us to apply it uncritically and immediately.
“This is the situation, although the case has not come up”.
