(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 1 – Udine Mayor Alberto Felice De Toni has called for the World Cup qualifier between Italy and Israel that is scheduled to take place at the Friuli stadium in the northeastern city on October 14 to be postponed.
In an interview with Monday’s Messaggero Veneto, De Toni said that, given “so much suffering” in Gaza, it would be “inopportune” to have the match take place in Udine at the moment.
He also referred to possible public order problems. (ANSA).
