Republic Day event at the Embassy in Lisbon

(ANSA) – LISBONA, 04 GIU – The Italian Embassy in Lisbon commemorated Republic Day with a major Made in Italy promotion event, organised thanks to the contribution of over 30 Italian companies operating throughout Portugal. In front of an audience of a thousand guests, Ambassador Claudio Miscia recalled the historic friendship that binds Italy and Portugal, recently crowned by the visit to Coimbra of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the 18th COTEC Symposium.
The ceremony was an opportunity to recall that 2025 marks the centenary of the purchase of Palazzo Pombeiro by the Italian Government: home to our Diplomatic Mission since 1925, the building is currently at the centre of an articulated programme of interventions aimed at the architectural and functional enhancement of the complex.
The formal celebrations were also joined by the Portuguese Minister of Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, who gave a brief but effective overview of the flourishing political and economic relations between the two countries, both in the bilateral sphere and in all multilateral contexts. Numerous institutional presences paid tribute to the Italian Republic, joining the reception designed to exalt, along with Italian creativity, the richness and benefits of the Mediterranean Diet.
