15-year-old arrested for stabbing boy aged 14

(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 17 – A 15-year-old boy has been arrested by Carabinieri police for allegedly stabbing a 14-year-old boy in a public park in the town of Castel San Pietro Terme, near Bologna, in the latest in a series of disturbing cases involving minors in Italy.
The suspect allegedly approached the victim when he was playing with other children in the park on Tuesday and stabbed him three times in the chest for no apparent reason, sources said.
The assailant fled the scene but the police managed to identify the suspect and track him down.
The injured boy was taken to Bologna’s Maggiore Hospital.
A slew of shocking cases involving children has heightened public alarm about the psychological well-being of young people.
These include that of a 15-year-old boy who took his own life in Santi Cosma e Damiano, near Latina, last week after being bullied.
The parents have said the school did nothing to help the boy, while the institute has said it was not informed of the situation.
Another case regards a 12-year-old girl who was allegedly repeatedly raped for two years by a 14-year-old and an 18-year-old in the Abruzzo town of Sulmona. (ANSA).
