3-Part Assassin’s Creed Replacement Sneaks Up on Streaming Competition 10 Years Later

The official movie adaptation of the Assassin’s Creed video game franchise didn’t work, but there are numerous alternatives that fans can check out on television while Netflix adapts the franchise again. The Assassin’s Creed games are simply too popular to ignore, and the times have certainly changed since the ill-fated adaptation headlined by Michael Fassbender. A decade ago, video game adaptations were viewed as a cursed proposition, with several earlier movies such as Hitman and Max Payne struggling both critically and commercially. Assassin’s Creed, directed by Justin Kurzeland featuring a shockingly overqualified cast, didn’t fare any better. It grossed around $240 million worldwide against a reported budget of $125 million, and received a terrible 18% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
