90 Azzurri at Tokyo worlds, Tamberi automatically enters

(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 1 – 90 Italian athletes, 44 men and 46 women, will compete at the next World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, starting September 13. Technical director Antonio La Torre has announced the list of athletes called up: the three Paris Olympic medalists, 10,000m silver medalist Nadia Battocletti, and bronze medalists Mattia Furlani (long jump) and Andy Diaz (triple jump).
Reigning world champion Gianmarco Tamberi (high jump) is automatically registered, while the other Tokyo 2020 gold medallists Marcell Jacobs (100 and 4×100), Filippo Tortu, Lorenzo Patta, Fausto Desalu (4×100) and Antonella Palmisano (20 km walk, also registered in the 35 km) are also on the team.
