The engineer and executive passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, with her husband and her son, Vlad Ghenciu, by her side. The cause of death has now been revealed: Faur had been quietly battling a sporadic, aggressive form of cancer. A close friend of the family shared that although she ‘fought it valiantly’ and held an optimistic spirit until the end, the disease made a rapid turn.

Buzz paid tribute to his wife in a separate message, saying, “I am so fortunate to have found and married the love of my life.” Her husband, Buzz, who is 95 years old, also added in his statement that his wife brought joy to everything they did together. He continued. “I will miss her dearly.” The post on Facebook read:
“Mrs. Aldrin, an accomplished chemical engineer with a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, served as the treasurer for the California Hydrogen Business Council and as Executive Vice President of Buzz Aldrin Ventures LLC.”
