Italian Cooperation Mission in Republic of Congo

(ANSA) – ROMA, 01 LUG – A system mission of the Italian Cooperation was held from June 25 to 27 in the Republic of Congo, the first ever since the country’s inclusion last year among the priorities for development cooperation in the context of its top position in the Mattei Plan, the Italian Embassy in Brazzaville announced in a statement.
The mission was led by the deputy director general of Development Cooperation/Central Director for Development Cooperation Interventions, Carlo Batori, accompanied by the special envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the Mattei Plan, Massimo Riccardo, the director of AICS, Marco Rusconi together with the director of the Aics Regional Office in Abidjan, responsible for the Republic of Congo, as well as an official in charge of sub-Saharan Africa from the Office of the Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the Council, at the Mattei Plan mission structure, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Ciheam Bari and the Avsi Foundation.
Constantly assisted by the embassy, the delegation participated in an intensive program of meetings and field visits together with the ambassador of Italy in Brazzaville, Enrico Nunziata. Among those present, the communiqué continues, were the ministers of Health and Population, Jean Rosaire Ibara; Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Paul Valentin Ngobo; Energy and Hydraulics, Emil Ouosso; and Finance, Budget and Public Portfolio, Christian Yoka, the minister of International Cooperation and Promotion of Public-Private Partnership, Denis Christel Sassou N’Guesso, as well as the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank, representatives of the various agencies of the UN system operating on the ground, and finally the Cooperation Section of the local European Union Delegation, also for the synergies between the Mattei Plan and Global Gateway.
June 27, on the other hand, was dedicated to a field visit of the concession to BFi in the village of Malolo 2, in the Niari department, Louvakou district, the subject of the public-private partnership initiative financed in part with Italian Cooperation funds and implemented by Ciheam of Bari and the BFi company, preceded by a brief courtesy meeting with local authorities, mayor and prefect of Dolisie.
The Italian Cooperation mission in the Republic of Congo consolidated the bilateral partnership under the Mattei Plan in the key sectors of health, agriculture, water, energy and finance, thanks also to the identification of mixed financial instruments and developing models of public-private partnership and also strengthening synergies with multilateral financial institutions and the U.N. system also in the field, finally laying solid operational foundations for shared and sustainable action in the spirit of the Mattei Plan for Africa for Common Growth, the communiqué concludes.
