(ANSA) – ROME, SEP 18 – Academic collaboration with Israel are to continue despite calls for a boycott over the Gaza war, Education, Universities and Research Minister Anna Maria Bernini said Thursday.
“The Italian government’s position on Gaza is very clear, but Italy alone cannot stop the war,” she said. “We are trying to make it clear that the international community does not share the rationale for the intervention in Gaza; all international and multilateral institutions are saying this.
“We are caring for children maimed by the war, we are taking concrete action with universities, providing aid, guaranteeing scholarships, distance learning, and student mobility to Italy.
“Academic collaborations with Israel will continue.” (ANSA).
