Amb. Cuculi visits Nave Mimbelli of the Italian Navy in Piraeus

(ANSA) – ATENE, 30 LUG – Italy’s Ambassador to Athens, Paolo Cuculi, paid a visit to the Nave Francesco Mimbelli, a missile-launching destroyer of the Italian Navy moored in the port of Piraeus as part of the educational trip of the students of the first class of the Taranto Petty Officers School, a statement said.
Launched in 1991 and modernized on several occasions, the ship, under the command of the Second Naval Division and routinely assigned to the port of Taranto, is capable of operating in vessel protection, air defense, countering underwater and surface units, supporting amphibious operations and coastal bombardment.
Welcomed by the Commander, Capt. Luca Capobianco, Ambassador Cuculi reviewed the crew and trainees, emphasizing the fundamental contribution that Navy personnel and units make in the framework of numerous national and multilateral missions for the protection of peace and security in the enlarged Mediterranean basin, in a particularly complex phase characterized by numerous conflicts and widespread instability.
