Ambassador Buccino Grimaldi on a mission to Cordoba

(ANSA) – MADRID, 19 SET – The ambassador of Italy to Spain, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, accompanied by the consul general in Madrid, Spartaco Caldararo, went to Córdoba yesterday on an official mission, where he met with the president of the Parliament of Andalusia, Jesús Ramón Aguirre Muñoz, and later with the mayor of the city, José María Bellido Roche.
The conversation with President Aguirre Muñoz allowed for a review of the main topics of current Spanish and international politics, with a special look at the Andalusian context in view of next spring’s elections in the region to the south of Spain, the embassy reports in a note.
With Mayor Bellido Roche, the ambassador addressed relations between Cordova and Italy on the cultural and economic levels, also recalling possible institutional collaboration and twinning initiatives with Italian cities. In this regard, an upcoming mission of an official from the City of Córdoba to Verona was addressed, to finalize preparations for a twinning between the two cities, which is liable to interesting developments in agricultural and agro-industrial, cultural, tourism and equine cooperation.
In this framework, the most recent data on the Italian community residing in the province, which has grown by 43% in the last five years, were illustrated: a young and dynamic presence, active in services, tourism and catering, with a prominent academic component linked to the Universidad de Córdoba, a pole of attraction for Italian students and researchers.
Attention was then extended to the economic sectors of greatest common interest: renewable energy, tourism, agritourism, logistics and jewelry, a sector in which Córdoba companies are regularly present at international trade fairs in Arezzo and Vicenza. The mission concluded with a visit to the Alcázar in Cordova and participation in the opening of an exhibition of paintings by Italian artist Clelia Muchetti.
