Leela Mishra was an actress who worked in the film industry for over five decades in over 200 films. She is best remembered for her role as ‘Basanti’s Mausi’ in the 1975 film, Sholay. However, one of her best performances was for Naani Maa in 1981, for which she received the Best Actress award at the age of 73. Her demise left a hole in the heart of the industry. In an old interview, the filmmaker, Sai Pranjpye, reflected on Leela’s dedication and revealed how she dedicated herself to the field even in her last days. 

Sai Paranjpye opened up about how Leela Mishra kept shooting despite being paralysed 

Sai Paranjpye is one of the best filmmakers in the film industry. She made a space for herself when the industry was overwhelmed by men and has since been one of the renowned names among the filmmakers. However, in an interview with Filmfare, she reflected on her experience working with the legendary actress, Leela Mishra. During her interaction, she opened up about one of the unsung gems in the industry that stood out to her.
