(ANSA) – ROME, AUG 21 – Italy was hit by another wave of bad weather overnight with customary late-August storms dumping a heap of rain on northern and central parts.
Flooding was reported in Tuscany, Veneto and Romagna.
Several people were rescued and evacuated from dangerous situations in the province of Grosseto in southern Tuscany due to last night’s storms.
Firefighters evacuated customers from a restaurant in Orbetello, concerned about the rising water entering the restaurant.
In Tuscany, 109,000 lightning strikes have struck in 12 hours.
In Veneto, heavy rains and flooding caused 30 firefighters to respond in the Padua and Venice areas.
In Rome and its province, over 100 firefighters reported uprooted trees, branches, and unsafe signs.
Hailstorms hit the Ravenna area, while there was a downpour in Cesenatico, with winds up to 70 km/h. (ANSA).
