Best ceramic cookware to buy in 2026, tested by our experts

We’ve put plenty of cookware to the test in our Good Food kitchen, from comprehensive pan sets to non-stick frying pans made from all sorts of materials, like cast iron and stainless steel. But for those interested in ceramic only, we’ve compiled a list of our top-performing cookware with a ceramic coating.

Ceramic cookware, solid or coated, is growing in popularity at the moment. Compared with traditional non-stick cookware, ceramic cookware can offer increased durability and uses minerals rather than chemicals to achieve its slick, non-stick surface. This appeals to many people looking to make the switch to ceramic.

At a glance:

Best ceramic pan set if you don’t use induction: Cuisinart Ceramica XT non-stick cookware set, £149.51

Best stylish ceramic pan set: ProCook Soho cookware set, £125

Best all-in-one ceramic frying pan: Our Place Always pan, £125

Best ceramic non-stick pancake pan: ProCook Professional Granite crêpe pan, £35

Best budget ceramic griddle pan: Tower Cerastone grill pan, £15.99

Best colourful ceramic sauté pan: Caraway non-stick ceramic sauté pan, £126.92

Best lightweight non-stick ceramic casserole dish: Smeg 50s-style 24cm casserole dish with lid, £149.95

Best ceramic casserole dish for versatility: Our Place Perfect pot, £135

Best ceramic roasting tin for eco credentials: Kuhn Rikon New Life roasting tin with lid, £49.95

Jump to:

Best ceramic cookware

Is ceramic better than non-stick?

Is ceramic cookware good for frying?

Best ceramic cookware

Cuisinart Ceramica XT non-stick cookware set

Available from Amazon (£149.51)

All the pans are also oven safe up to 175C for a maximum of 20 minutes.

This comprehensive 11-piece set includes two saucepans, a sauté pan, stockpot, two skillets and a steamer insert, covering all bases for busy kitchens. The pans themselves are sleek and stylish, with comfortable soft-grip handles – we found that despite their sturdiness, they were not heavy at all.

In testing, the ceramic coating provided an excellent non-stick surface, and the aluminium core meant they responded exceptionally well to temperature change. The only drawback we found was when cooking American-style pancakes – we could not maintain an even colour, and they came out a little dark every time. After use, we found the pans super-easy to clean, even after making porridge.

For the quality and functionality, this is an excellent, comprehensive ceramic pan set at a great price.

Set contains: 1.4- and 2.4-litre saucepans with lids, 2.8-litre sauté pan with lid, 5.7-litre stockpot with lid, 20cm and 25cm skillets and an 18cm steamer insert
Materials: aluminium core
Warranty: three years
Oven-safe: yes, but only to 175C and no longer than 20 minutes
Induction-compatible? No

Best stylish ceramic pan set

Pros:

10-year warranty

Super non-stick coating

Choice of four great colours

Cons:

Excessive heat must be avoided

Star rating: 4.5/5

Another favoured feature of ceramic cookware is its stylish, colourful appearance, and this four-piece ProCook set certainly ticks that box. It’s also available in four stunning colours.

On initial unboxing, we were impressed with the sturdiness and finish of the pans, especially considering how light they are. We put them straight to the test with scrambled eggs, omelettes, porridge, fried onions, pasta and a shakshuka that really stole the show. The ceramic non-stick coating was fantastic, so much so that the omelette was a little difficult to catch!

It must be noted that, like a lot of ceramic cookware, excessive heat can cause the coating to deteriorate and must be avoided. It shouldn’t be too much of an issue with this set though, as the stainless steel and aluminium mean that they heat up quickly and evenly.

Set contains: 18cm saucepan with lid, 26cm sauté pan with lid, 24cm frying pan, 24cm casserole dish with steamer insert
Materials: stainless steel and aluminium
Warranty: 10 years
Oven-safe: up to 260C
Induction-compatible? Yes

It gets its name from its seriously impressive versatility: it can function as a steamer with the handled steamer basket, which also doubles as a colander, while the domed lid makes it easy to roast a chicken, while the pan is still shallow enough to fry and poach eggs.

Despite this versatility, the pan is light and comfortable to hold. Cooking with it is a breeze, and it turned out excellent results that slid around and out of the pan effortlessly. Hand-washing is recommended to preserve the coating, but that’s a small price to pay given how well it performs. The included wooden spatula is also a nice touch, given that metal utensils are a no-go with ceramic.

Sizes available: 21.6cm, 26.7cm, 31.8cm
Oven-safe: up to 230C
Materials: 100% recycled aluminium
Dishwasher-safe: no, hand-wash only
Suitable for induction: yes
Guarantee: three years

Best budget ceramic griddle pan

Pros:

Good non-stick coating

Cons:

Not suitable for oven or grill use

Griddle pans are a great piece of cookware to have in your cupboard if you’re after that caramelised, smoky taste, or if just a fan of those chargrilled lines on a burger.

Tower’s grill pan provides just that, but with a Cerastone ceramic coating that performed excellently during testing. We were able to flip and move ingredients effortlessly without using any oil or butter. Hand-washing was easy and will prolong the life of the non-stick, but it can be popped in the dishwasher if required.

The pan itself is compact and, as such, is very lightweight. Combined with the soft-touch silicone handle, lifting and manoeuvring this pan was a breeze. It can’t be used in the oven or under the grill, so could be a little limiting for keen grillers, but if you’re just getting started, this is a solid choice.

It must be said that this is a relatively heavy pan, weighing in at around 3kg – there’s a helper handle opposite the main cylindrical handle, which was a welcome feature for this, especially when the lid was on.

The pan is brilliant in action, as it’s quick to heat and respond to temperature change – onions browned evenly and didn’t stick. It retained heat for quite some time after being removed from the hob, which is great if you’re not ready to serve just yet, but something to bear in mind if you want to wash it up quickly.

Caraway only ships to the UK with a large fee, so UK shoppers are likely to want to order from a different retailer – they’re available on Healf.

Oven-safe: up to 280C
Dishwasher-safe: hand-washing recommended
Suitable for induction: yes

The stainless-steel handles and ceramic coating – as opposed to the typical cast iron – give it a sleek, clean aesthetic, while also contributing to its impressive practicality.

At just under 3kg, it’s noticeably lighter than a lot of casserole dishes tested, making it far easier to lift and manoeuvre even when full, and the stainless-steel handles are comfortable to hold while being wide enough to allow for bulky oven gloves when moving the dish from the oven. The ceramic coating is brilliant too – there’s absolutely no sticking when caramelising onions or making stew. Washing-up after is so quick and easy, and it’s dishwasher-safe, if needed.

One potential issue with the pot is the size – it’s only available in 24cm, so may be too limiting for someone wanting to make larger batches.

Best ceramic roasting tin for eco-credentials

Pros:

Vacuum lid for storage

Freezer-safe

Eco-friendly

Three-layer ceramic non-stick coating

Cons:

Lid isn’t leakproof

Can’t use metal utensils

Star rating: 4.5/5

Kuhn Rikon has put a serious focus on sustainability with this roasting tin: delivered in 100 per cent recycled packaging, it’s made from recycled aluminium from Europe and its makers claim that it’s produced with up to 95 per cent less energy than conventional aluminium ovenware. Plus, the addition of the lid means you can cut back on cling film.

The aluminium makes it a robust, strong tray, and the three-layer ceramic coating means it has a fabulous non-stick surface – food released easily after cooking and hand-washing was swift. We liked how light the tray was too – it made it easy to take it out of the oven and across the kitchen.

The lid would be great for storing leftovers in the fridge and it’s also freezer-safe, but be careful to keep it the right way up, as it isn’t completely leakproof.

Material: polypropylene lid and aluminium tin
Sizes available: 6 x 20 x 32cm, plus two others – a small 1.1-litre and large 4.7-litre
Maximum temperature: 240C
Dishwasher-safe: yes, but cleaning by hand is recommended
Hob-friendly: no
Guarantee: five years

Read our full review on roasting tins here for a deeper dive.

Is ceramic better than non-stick?

A ceramic coating is a type of non-stick coating used on cookware. Traditional non-stick coatings are made using chemicals including PFAS, PFOA and PFTE. Ceramic coatings are broadly made by a process of a gel made from silica, which is applied to the metal of the pan, then dried to create the non-stick surface.

Ceramic tends to be more durable that traditional non-stick, and can be heated to a higher temperature. Both non-stick and ceramic coatings are still pretty fragile and you’ll need to avoid metal cooking utensils.

When we test ceramic pans, we drag a fork across the surface to test their durability against metal utensils.

Is ceramic cookware good for frying?

Ceramic is an effective type of non-stick coating that can be good for all sorts of different cooking techniques, including frying.

The non-stick allows you to achieve a sealed finish without tearing foods – for example pancakes or a fried egg – and also means you don’t need to use as much oil as you might otherwise.

It’s worth noting though that non-stick pans (including ceramic) should not be heated to high temperatures, as it degrades the coating. This means they aren’t suited to certain tasks, like deep-frying or searing meat at a high temperature.
