(ANSA) – BRUXELLES, 21 MAG – Writing history well. It is with a documentary and a book that Stefania Craxi tries to respond to the ‘anguish’ experienced during the last months of her father Bettino Craxi’s life of faithfully reporting history. “Twenty-five years have passed and much has been said and written about Craxi, his political stature I believe is hardly denied by anyone today, but we have tried to convey what his human stature was,” said the Forza Italia senator, chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee, at the screening at the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels of the docufilm ‘Bettino oltre Craxi. Storia di un uomo’, produced by the Foundation named after the former Prime Minister.
A documentary that ‘by choice’ does not have a narrator’s voice but collects ‘testimonies of those who knew him closely’, recounting ‘the life of an all-political family, to respond to the great anxiety Craxi felt in the last months of his life that history was well written. So I hope that both the documentary and that little book will bring this contribution so that history is written well,’ concluded the senator, author of the book ‘In the Shadow of History. My life between politics and affections’.
