Bobby’s Death Feels Like the Beginning of the End for 9-1-1

Bobby’s Death Feels Like the Beginning of the End for 9-1-1

Bobby’s death on 9-1-1 shattered our hearts into a million little pieces.

He held the 118 (and us!) together for nearly eight full seasons.

Watching his death and the fallout has caused us even more agony.

And with how 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 18 ended the season, we can’t help but wonder how 9-1-1 can continue.

Is it the beginning of the end for 9-1-1 and the 118?

It seems that way.

Bobby’s Death Changed Everything

Without Captain Bobby Nash, the 118 will be in shambles.

Despite Chimney’s appearance as the captain after the 9-1-1 Season 8 finale, it seems this may be the beginning of the end of the show we fell in love with years ago.

Bobby has always been the main character; without him, everyone else remains a supporting character.

Sure, Athena gives off main character energy, but it won’t work without Bobby, and she isn’t part of the 118.

Who will keep things together when Buck spirals?

Will Chim be able to rally the troops when the time comes? Eddie figured out how to deal with the last tragedy.

9-1-1 Season 9 Needs to Wrap Everything Up

The 9-1-1 Season 8 finale could have easily been the series finale, especially with all of the loose ends tied up in a nice bow.

Chim and Maddie named their son Robert Nash, and Athena held the baby, calling him Bobby.

Bobby’s death didn’t stop his legacy from continuing through the 118, but it leaves a bleak outlook for the upcoming season.

Going on for another 18-some episodes seems like a reach.

And if this is the beginning of the end, we hope the writers are prepared to give us content we can’t ignore.

What other storylines could we be given that would rival what happened in 9-1-1 Season 8?

Spoiler alert — there are none.

We’ve already been given backstories and episodes for each character while exploring their love lives.

There are definitely more emergencies to write about, and we’ve accepted the show’s continuation without Bobby for Season 9 — begrudgingly.

Bobby’s Death on 9-1-1 Was the True End

Weeks before Bobby’s death rocked 9-1-1 viewers, there were spoilers all over social media.

Photos of the cast walking in a funeral procession hinted that Bobby was in the casket, but it didn’t seem possible.

Watching the 118 move on without their captain will be tough.

Seeing Chimney in the role will give us pause.

There is no one else but Bobby who can fill those shoes, and dragging it on for another season has us worried that what was once must-see TV will fall by the wayside as viewers abandon ship.

However, should the writers choose to explore the connection between Eddie and Buck, our minds may be swayed to stick around a bit longer.

The aftermath of Bobby’s death on 9-1-1 has impacted viewers in various ways.

It was a choice to continue for another season instead of ending things with Season 8.

We are hopeful something good will come from Season 9, but it certainly feels like the beginning of the end that no one asked for.
