Shiboprasad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Bohurupi (performers) is a film set in urban Kolkata. The narrative is based around the true story of a gang of robbers who walk as Bohurupis. The movie, released on October 8, 2024, during the Durga Puja time had crossed the Rs. 10 crore mark at the box office. According to a report by The Times of India, the film had sold more than 1,000 tickets in an hour.
Bohurupi movie is not your normal crime drama film
The backbone of the movie is ‘Bikram’ a.k.a Shiboproshad Mukherjee. His life changes when he gets framed for the murder of a leader of the mill where ‘Bikram’ was an accountant. Bikram faces five years in jail, and his family, as well as the mill workers, also suffer. The film has been inspired by the real-life bank robberies that took place during the ’90s and the ‘2000s. ‘Bikram’s’ life changes when he is wrongly accused. The jute mill worker is tortured for a crime he never committed. ‘Bikram’ does not keep quiet. He changes the system and becomes a legend in robbing banks.
