BOOTES and MODAIR Aviation Join Forces to Propel India’s Leadership in Net-Zero Aviation Technology

BOOTES, India’s leading Net-Zero Construction and Engineering company, and MODAIR Aviation, a pioneer in sustainable aviation, have announced a landmark partnership to revolutionize the future of aviation in India. Together, they aim to develop the country’s first Net-Zero Airport dedicated to pilot training and reverse engineering of battery-operated Net-Zero aircraft, positioning India as a global leader in sustainable air travel.

India’s aviation sector is poised for exponential growth, with market projections estimating a ₹20,000 crore expansion over the next three years. Despite being the world’s third-largest aviation market, India has only 2,500 aircraft and 276 active helicopters, compared to the United States’ 2.5 lakh aircraft. This highlights a significant demand-supply gap and a tremendous opportunity for growth. Additionally, the Indian helicopter market is set to expand, with the global civil helicopter market projected to reach USD 14.42 billion by 2032, growing at a CAGR of 7.24%. Within the next decade, India is expected to emerge as a global hub for pilot training, requiring over 50,000 new pilots and more than 4,000 training aircraft.

The BOOTES-MODAIR collaboration aims to accelerate India’s leadership in Net-Zero aviation by focusing on several key initiatives:

  • Building India’s first Net-Zero Airport for Pilot Training.
  • Introducing battery-operated aircraft for sustainable aviation.
  • Developing sustainable flight training infrastructure aligned with UDAN 2.0.
  • Establishing aviation experience centers and flight showrooms for test drives.

Leveraging advanced engineering, renewable energy, and carbon-neutral designs, the joint venture seeks to equip India’s pilot training institutes with over 2,500 aircraft and connect more than 50 pilot training centers under a unified Net-Zero Institute. This comprehensive effort will establish world-class training facilities, creating an aviation ecosystem that reduces emissions while maximizing operational efficiency.

This partnership marks a significant step toward redefining India’s aviation landscape, paving the way for sustainable growth in the industry while addressing the country’s rising demand for pilots and training infrastructure.

“We should be so self-sufficient that the world looks up to us for aviation training. This joint venture aligns with our Prime Minister’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and will play a crucial role in making India a global leader in sustainable aviation. Partnering with BOOTES strengthens our commitment to creating a cleaner, greener aviation ecosystem.” said Atul Jain, Founder & Owner, MODAIR Aviation IFSC Pvt Ltd

This partnership goes beyond infrastructure—it’s about driving transformative innovation in aviation technology. It focuses on advancing R&D for battery-operated aircraft for both commercial and training purposes, developing advanced sustainable practices to achieve carbon neutrality in aviation, and integrating AI and smart technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

“The aviation industry is at a turning point where sustainability is no longer an option—it is a necessity. Through this joint venture, we are engineering a new era of clean aviation. By merging BOOTES’ expertise in Net-Zero Construction & Engineering with MODAIR’sm leadership in aviation technology, we are confident that India will emerge as a global pioneer in sustainable flight.” Said Deepak Rai, Managing Director, BOOTES

This partnership signifies a ₹5,000 crore investment over the next five years, aiming not only to advance Net-Zero aviation in India but also to establish global standards for clean, efficient, and sustainable air travel. With sustainability at its core, the BOOTES-MODAIR collaboration is set to transform India’s aviation industry, positioning the country as a global leader in Net-Zero aviation technology rather than just a participant in the sector.
