(ANSA) – SAN PAOLO, 27 MAG – The Consulate General of São Paulo, together with the Italian Cultural Institute of the Brazilian metropolis, presents the Andrea Pagani Quartet on its first tour in Brazil.
The renowned pianist, composer and arranger Andrea Pagani, starts his first Brazilian tour with Daniele Basirico on bass, Cesar Audi on drums and Flavinho Vargas on percussion, in an exclusive concert for the guests of the traditional Festa della Repubblica, promoted by the Consulate General of São Paulo, on 2 June.
For the special occasion, the Andrea Pagani Quartet will share the stage with the celebrated Mafalda Minnozzi, an Italian singer living in Brazil, acclaimed for her unique style combining jazz, bossa nova and Italian music.
Andrea Pagani, an artist of recognised sensitivity and sophistication, has eight original albums to his name, the most recent of which is ‘You Must Believe in Strings’, released in 2023. In 2007, he received the prestigious Gold Disc Award from the Japanese Swing Journal magazine for the album Le Storie d’Amore, produced by Makoto Kimata.
His artistic career includes collaborations with important names on the Italian and international music scene such as Roberto Ciotti, Enrico Montesano, Frank Catalano, Red Pellini, Michael Rosen and Massimo Moriconi, among others. He is also the author of soundtracks for theatre and cinema, having participated in award-winning projects such as the short film Waiting for Woody, with the special participation of Woody Allen, winner of the New York Movie Awards.
During his tour stop in São Paulo, Andrea Pagani and his quartet will hold two concerts open to the public, on 3 June, at 9pm, at the Bourbon Street Music Club in Rua dos Chanés, 127, in the Moema neighbourhood, and on 5 June, at 10.30pm, at the Blue Note São Paulo in Avenida Paulista, 2073.
This initiative reinforces the commitment of the Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute of São Paulo in promoting Italian culture in its multiple expressions, including music, not only in its classical and traditional forms, but also in contemporary and innovative currents such as jazz.
