Britain is set for a spell of warm weather, with multiple days this week set to skim the 20C mark.
Following a slightly colder weekend for most, today is set to hail the transition to milder and moister conditions.
Air moving up from the southwest will bring bring a cloudier day for most.
A few patchy outbreaks of rain might occur as the weather fronts move east.
Despite missing out on the bright, sunny rays, the cloud cover should allow temperatures to reach 14-17C across the north, and potentially touching 19C in the south.
However, this warm spell is not a one-and-done phenomenon, as it won’t be until Thursday night when a band of heavy rain passes over the UK from the northwest.
Looking at Tuesday and beyond in a blog for NetWeather, Senior forecaster Nick Finnis writes: “A windier day for all on Tuesday, especially in the north and west, with a band of squally rain moving east during the morning, clearing southeast England and East Anglia around lunchtime.
“Brighter conditions follow, but with squally showers spreading east across Scotland.

“A warm day for mid-October across England, temperatures could reach 20C across eastern England.”
On Wednesday, the forecaster predicts conditions will be largely dry and bright with small patches of light rain.
However, a band of heavy rain and strong winds will begin moving west across Scotland and Norhtern Ireland in the evening.
Even with the rain, Northern Ireland, Wales and England should all reach 19C by the afternoon.

Mr Finnis continued his forecast by saying temperatures should remain in the same upper teen range.
He added: A band of heavy rain along a cold front across southern Scotland and Northern Ireland first thing will continue to slide southeast across England and Wales, though not reaching southeast England and East Anglia until overnight, so here could be some sunny spells and temperatures perhaps reaching 20-21C in the mild southwesterly flow.
“Cooler and brighter conditions moving in across the north following the front, but with blustery showers in the northwest.”
By Friday morning, the rain should have cleared to the southeast.
It should feel coolerm but sunny spells will prevail meaning mostly dry day with a few scattered showers around the coasts.
The Met Office says in its Tuesday forecast: “Heavy rain moves across England and Wales during the morning with blustery winds, but turning drier and brighter in the afternoon. Heavy showers move into the north later.”
By Wednesday, Britain’s national forecaster predicts “a band of heavy rain will move slowly south over the next few days, and rather windy in the north.
“Gradually turning colder and brighter from Friday with lighter winds. Mild.”
